In prison, you'd be able to purchase your quarterly packages. You could purchase a multitude of items ranging from clothes, food, health or beauty products. You'd realistically be paying monthly for their packages and you'd have a catalogue of items to choose from. You'd be surprised on how much you can actually buy from a level four yard, it's a lot.
It'd be good to role play something like this because you could always discuss items with other inmates and trade off for other items, or if someone owes you something you could force them to buy in and buy you items you need, you could also extort people inside prison (if they would role play it) and get them to give you some of their quarterly items.
Go through an institution to get an idea of how much stuff you could actually buy. You could buy entire ranges of branded shoes, shorts, jewellery and so forth. I'd appreciate it if you guys would start role playing stuff like this as it gives an idea on how your character comes across. Is he religious? He's probably buying religious packages and so on.
You'd also realistically have catalogues in your cell to go off of. You could range from merely having a music catalogue and so on.
These are few examples of what's on the California State Prison Catalogue (you could always go onto a level four base and check theirs too, it's more or less the same).
